The Tánaiste has called for a ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The Foreign Affairs Minister says the suffering of innocent civilians, particularly children, is on a scale that requires an immediate end to the fighting.
EU Foreign Ministers are meeting in Luxembourg today where the situation in Gaza and Israel is being discussed.
Minister Micheál Martin insists the EU's stance on the conflict is becoming clearer - following criticism of the EU Commission President Ursula von Der Leyen:
"In terms of the upholding of the application of international law and international humanitarian law in particular, and also a focus on the plight of Gazans in terms of their everyday needs, and also to get onto a political track in terms of resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian question".
