The Tánaiste has said he's confident blackouts will be avoided this winter.
Leo Varadkar believes there will be enough power despite the grid being stretched.
Last night he told Fine Gael TDs he was reasonably confident power outages can be avoided.
Leo Varadkar said he was more sure in the Dáil this afternoon
"I've had a chance over the last couple of days to study the presentations that Eirgrid and the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities has provided government.
"And having looked at those studies I'm confident that we will avoid blackouts and brownouts this winter.
"However, nobody can guarantee it for certain, as there are certain factors that are outside of our control."
