The Taoiseach says he doesn't believe the Government will contest the next general election as a joint ticket.

Leo Varadkar thinks each of the coalition parties will go it alone when people next take to the polls.

He has played down the idea of an early general election next year suggesting the Government will go full term to early 2025.

But Leo Varadkar doesn't think that will mean contesting the election as a united Government with Micheál Martin and Eamon Ryan.

"It hasn't been discussed, but we are all separate parties, so I think it's unlikely we'll run as a ticket if you like, or a coalition. I think each party will want to set out its own stall.

"I do think there's a very good chance this Government could be re-elected. I never put too much stock in opinion polls because they don't predict the outcome of elections, they didn't the last time and they certainly didn't the time before."
