Cuts to VAT on energy won't include petrol or diesel, under plans going to Cabinet.
Tomorrow Ministers will consider a suite of measures to offset the rising cost of fuel.
It will include a payment of 99 euro to those on the fuel allowance and a scrapping of the PSO levy.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin says they will reduce VAT on electricity and gas to 9%, and denied they could go further:
"In contrast to a lot of the comments that were made in the Dáil, it's a far more complex arena now than simply saying go to zero%, that some politicians have been articulating. We can't do that. And also it's not just in many areas. It has a broader, potentially could have in terms of other areas and other sectors of the economy."
