The Taoiseach says the Government will meet its target of 25,000 new homes being built this year.
Speaking ahead of today's Fianna Fail Ard Fheis - Micheál Martin again expressed confidence in Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien, who he said was 'working flat out'.
He acknowledged that delivery is key - and said building houses was the Government's number one focus:
"My own Sec. Gen. is chairing an Interdepartmental Group - to say housing is the number one issue. We want houses built. And that is the focus of government. Delivery is the key - I acknowledge. We've gone to the local authorities. We said we want social houses built. We want affordable houses built. The First Home Scheme is now in law. It's up and running to help first time buyers, the Help to Buy scheme has been continued. On all metrics, house building is up".
