The Taoiseach says he's struck by the violence and open drug dealing on Dublin city's streets.
Micheál Martin was responding to calls for a taskforce to be set up to deal with crime and dereliction along O'Connell Street, highlighted by Prime Time on RTÉ.
He told the Dáil there was no question the fabric of the street needed to change but said a taskforce wouldn't solve all of the area's problems:
"One is struck by the extraordinary violence, the violence of people against people on our streets late in the evening. There's no question that the free exchange of drugs on the streets it's very obvious for many people and people have been commenting for quite some time."
