The Taoiseach says Ireland is far from a failed State.
During a speech this morning on the foundation of the Irish Free State Micheál Martin hit out at critics who say everything is always doom and gloom.
The Taoiseach says much has been achieved over the past 100 years:
"In day to day political debate, much of the popular populist rhetoric implies that Ireland has been close to a failed state for much of the last century. We seem to find it close to impossible to allow the successes of the state to be acknowledged, as if nothing is achieved until everything has been achieved."
