Taoiseach says referendum on Irish unity will happen in 'the fullness of time'

But he thinks right now, the Irish government's focus should still be on reconciliation.

It comes as a 'Lucid Talk' poll published in yesterday's Sunday Times found a majority of voters in the North would support Irish Unity in the next two decades.

Micheál Martin says the most important thing is developing an island that is truly shared:

"The mechanisms of the Good Friday Agreement provide for a referendum in the fullness of time. But as I said in the speech, we have to work very hard to turn words into action in terms of reconciliation, and developing a really, truly shared island. And I think what's important is that we continue the work of reconciliation between different traditions on the island and allow things to evolve, and they will evolve, of that I have no doubt."
