The Taoiseach says Tori Towey will soon be home , after having a travel ban from Dubai lifted.
She had faced criminal charges of attempted suicide and alcohol consumption.
The Dail heard yesterday the 28 year old had been a victim of gender based violence and prevented from leaving the country.
Taoiseach Simon Harris says no Irish citizen should have to face such a situation
"I'm pleased that the travel ban for Tori Towey has now been lifted. this should never have been in place. No Irish citizen should ever have to experience this, and I certainly wasn't going to stand for a situation where an Irish citizen who has been the victim of a gender based brutal attack would find themselves in a situation where, instead of being supported, they're being subjected to criminal charges"
