Teachers Are Concerned About Rising Levels Of Anxiety Among Primary School Children

That's according to a new survey

It's one of the findings in a new report from the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, which surveyed 4,000 children across the country.

Tom Douglas reports:

'The Children's Lives Study has noted concerns from teachers and principals about 'rising levels of anxiety among children. Possible reasons mentioned include family breakdown and poverty. But Associate Professor Jennifer Symonds from UCD says they are already comparing themselves to others. English is listed as one of the 'most useful' subjects by the kids themselves, but just 12 percent are read to at home every day. Screen time is listed as a possible reason why, the National Parent's Council Primary CEO Aine Lynch says it's not quite that simple. This study is just one set of data from a project that is set to continue for years.'
