Pay and staff shortages will be topping the agendas at a series of teachers conferences today.
The Irish National Teachers Organisation continues its congress in Killarney, TUI delegates are meeting in Cork while the ASTI holds its annual conference in Wexford.
ICTU President Kevin Cullinane will address INTO members in Kerry later and will be telling delegates that new national wage talks later this year, will be firmly focused on the cost-of-living, rising prices and how that impacts on pay.
"We will be considering whether or not the Government are going to withdraw, as it would appear to be the case, the various measures they introduced like the energy credit, and we'll also be looking at the projections for inflation over the period of any agreement.
"All of these things together will certainly be the main focus for negotiators on the union side."
