The tenth annual March for Choice is taking place in Dublin today.
The socially distanced rally is taking place outside the Dáil at 2pm, featuring speakers from women's rights groups across the country.
Marchers are calling on the Health Minister Stephen Donnelly to deliver on promises of safe access to abortion.
Teena Gates reports for RedFM News:
"Despite the historic referendum result in May 2018, campaigners taking part in today's 'March for Choice' say there are still far too many barriers to abortion in Ireland.
They list a number of problems with access for care, including mandatory waiting periods, limited service provision, and enduring abortion stigma.
Despite the pandemic, the organisers say at least 10 people a week travelled from Ireland to England to access abortion in 2020.
The Abortion Rights Campaign who've demonstrated for change every year since 2012, say people accessing abortion services still face intimidation from protestors outside hospitals, GPs and Clinics.
They're calling on Health Minister Stephen Donnelly to legislate for safe zones to ensure safe access to abortion - as a priority."
