Tesco workers across the country are protesting today, following the store's decision to not allow union representation.
Mandate Trade Union has represented Tesco workers since the store entered the Irish market, however, it says management has refused to bargain with them in recent times.
The first protest took place at the Ardkeen store in Waterford this morning.
Amanda Kane, Divisional Organiser, says workers are not being represented properly
" Unfortunately, Tesco, over the last number of years, has denied our members the right to be properly represented. At the moment, we're not allowed into the stores - trade union officials are not allowed in. We're not allowed to represent our members at disciplinaries or investigations in the room, it has to be done by a call, over the phone"
