Cork City Fire Brigade are appealing to people living near derelict buildings to be vigilant of anti-social behaviour.
Second officer with the brigade, Victor Shine says people could potentially break into properties to light fires to keep warm during the winter.
There are currently 700 derelict properties within a 2 kilometre radius of the city and there are fears that people using the properties may result in tragedy.
