Today's UN Security Council meeting will be the most important since Ireland gained membership, according to Minister Simon Coveney.

The council meets following Russia's announcement of an escalation of the war in Ukraine.

Gardaí are continuing to question a woman in her 40's in connection with the deaths of two children who died in a car fire earlier this month.

A two year old boy and a five year old girl died in the incident, in Multyfarnham, Co Westmeath, on the 9th of September.

The Labour Party is to unveil a four billion euro alternative budget today aimed at tackling the cost of living.

The Party says its plan, which has been fully costed, aims to help financially-stretched families as the winter sets in.

The package would address GP care, access to housing and energy poverty.

Today marks the final day of the Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, County Laois.

Yesterday saw the largest crowd in the event’s 91 year history, with 115,500 people onsite.
