The man arrested in connection with the investigation into the death of Matthew Healy has been charged.

The 32 year old remains in Garda custody and is expected to appear before a sitting of Cork District Court this morning.

There needs to be a better attempt to find out who is buried in the Bessborough mother and baby home.

That's according to a Cork City Councillor who says a redevelopment of the site cannot go ahead until there is clarity surrounding the 859 children that died and are possibly buried within the grounds.

Cork City Council refused plans to redevelop the site for residential purposes which means the plans to build two stepped buildings which included over 90 residential units and a creche will not go ahead.

The pass rate in a driving test centre in Cork was nearly twice as high as one in Dublin last year.

Ballincollig in Cork had a success rate of 75% - the highest in the country.

The national average was 53%, and the lowest was in a centre in Mulhuddart in Dublin, at 38%.
