Cork City Councillors have voted against reopening Ballincollig Fire Station.

At last night's special meeting of Cork City Council, Councillors voted 18-5 against reopening and staffing the fire station full time, with three abstentions

According to a report in the Irish Examiner, Councillors were told that funding the €4.6m annual cost of the station could only happen through rising rates or rents, increasing parking costs or cutting services.

Almost one billion euro has been paid by Irish motorists on tolled roads since the beginning of 2020.

The figures have been released to this station by Transport Infrastructure Ireland under the Freedom of Information Act.

Night time water restrictions have been put in place in Clonakilty.

Uisce Eireann say the restrictions, which came into effect last night, will be in place from 11pm until 7am until further notice.

Tickets for Coldplay go on sale online this morning.

Fans who registered for the presale tickets have the first change to snap them up from 10 o'clock.

The band are bringing their Music of the Spheres World Tour to Croke Park - they'll play two dates on 29th and 30th August next year.
