Pregnant women or new mothers are most likely to die at the hands of their partner or former partner.

An independent study into domestic murders and familicide published today is recommending a new agency be set up for domestic, sexual and gender based violence.

This study commissioned by the Department of Justice examined violent deaths caused by an intimate or former partner, and incidences of familicide between the years 2000 and 2018.

The government is under fire for not going far enough in banning vapes for under 18's.

New laws will be in force from July outlawing the sale of e-cigarettes to children and restricting the advertising of them on public transport and near schools.

However the Irish Heart Foundation says its not enough to prevent a new generation of young people from nicotine addiction.

New laws are on the way for anyone who spikes someones drink.

The standalone offence will see jail sentences of 12 months handed down.

Drink spiking that leads to physical or sexual assault will carry heavier penalties.
