3000 staff employed by Facebook in Ireland are expected to find out this morning if their jobs will be cut..

The company is reportedly due to make an announcement at 11 Irish time, where it's expected to outline thousands of job cuts to it's global workforce of over 85,000 people.

It's believed 100 people work in Cork's Meta offices, and are based on the top of the Capitol Building on Grand Parade

The Health Minister is facing pressure to ensure ALL staff who worked in healthcare settings during the pandemic receive their 1,000 euro bonus payment before Christmas.

Thousands of contract staff, like cleaners and porters, who served on the frontline have yet to be paid the tax-free bonus, promised back in January.

The government is set to come under pressure to provide services to support those who have not made a full recovery from Covid

The Regional Group of TD's will table a Dáil motion this morning seeking the roll out of specialist services to support people suffering from long Covid

The Group says more than 336 thousand adults nationally are likely to be suffering or have suffered some form of long Covid, with an estimated 21 thousand being so unwell that they are unfit to work.

Democrats are projected to win a vital US Senate race in the midterms, on what is turning out to be a disappointing night for Republicans.

Networks predict US President Joe Biden's party will flip the Pennsylvania Senate seat, which was seen a key race to maintain control of the upper house.

Republicans are currently on course to claim a slim majority in the US of Representatives, with around 70 races still to be declared.
