The funeral of Matthew Healy will be held later today.

The 89 year old was the victim of an alleged attack last Sunday morning, while he was receiving treatment at Mercy University Hospital.

Mass will be held for the retired farmer at his local church in Berrings, at 12 o'clock today - less than a month after his wife passed away.

According to the National Treatment Purchase Fund's data, 59,000 have been on the lists for over a year.

The stats relate to people waiting for CTs, MRIs and ultrasounds as outpatients.

The Fórsa trade union has backed plans for indefinite strike action at community and voluntary agencies funded by the HSE.

The union has also committed to funding the wages of striking workers, who've been locked in a bitter pay dispute.

The 'Section 39' agencies involved provide a range of residential and day services for people with disabilities, mental health issues and addictions among others.

A portrait of Vicky Phelan will be unveiled at UCC later today to commemorate the life of the cervical cancer campaigner who died in November last year.

The Triptych portrait by Irish artist Vincent Devine tells the story of Vicky's life in three panels and will be on show in the university's library for three weeks as part of a national campaign to honour her legacy.
