Around 60,000 students received their results earlier this week
It saw average marks increase by 4.4%, making it the highest graded Leaving Cert year on record.
However that surge was reflected in Friday's CAO Round 1 offers with 75% of degree and Level 8 courses seeing a rise in point requirements.
Across Ireland, over half of those who applied for a degree level course through the CAO system were offered their first preference, with many left disappointed due to a surge in points.
With schools now back open fro the first time since march, the focus switches to this year's Leaving Cert students who have not been attending class since March.
