The Wheel, the national association of charities and community groups, is inviting Irish civil society organisations to find their pathway to EU funding at the Access Europe Showcase 2022, on Thursday, 1 December in Croke Park.
Access Europe is an essential support service for Irish civil society providing information, helpdesk support, and training on all aspects of EU funding. It is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and delivered by The Wheel.
The Showcase event coincides with EU50, an initiative that celebrates 50 years of Irish membership of the European Union. Ireland has benefitted enormously from its EU membership and, in turn, has made definitive contributions to the development of today’s European Union. The Access Europe Showcase celebrates this impact, and aims to empower others to start their EU funding journey. Thomas Byrne TD, Minister of State for European Affairs will make a special contribution at the event.
Commenting on the event, Deirdre Garvey CEO of The Wheel said: “This is the first time since the Access Europe programme launched in 2020 that we have been able to gather sector representatives and EU stakeholders together in person to celebrate this programme and the tremendous impact of EU funding on communities across Ireland. It is particularly fitting that it coincides with EU50 and can therefore contribute towards the celebration of this important milestone in Ireland’s history.”
The event will feature an expo of Irish National Contact Points for various EU funding programmes, a presentation of Access Europe supports and progress and the award ceremony for the inaugural #OurEUStory competition, which encourages civil society organisations to tell the story of how EU funding impacted them and their communities.
