Three men, aged 38, 45 and 47, have been arrested by police investigating the attempted murder of a senior PSNI officer yesterday evening.
Off-duty police officer Detective Chief Inspector, John Caldwell, remains in a critical condition following surgery overnight.
He was shot at a sports complex in Omagh in front of children and police believe dissident republicans were behind the attack.
PSNI Chief Constable Simon Byrne's paid tribute to John Caldwell.
"John is held in the highest. esteem within our organisation. He is a credit to his family and the police service.
"Our thoughts are with John and his family as he fights for his life today."
