Travel agents believe business will pick up from around September.

The Irish Travel Agents Association says it is already seeing bookings for skiing holidays next winter as well as Lapland around Christmas.

It comes as a CSO survey found 1 in 6 people would be willing to travel abroad this year.

Michael Doorley from the group says there is an appetite for people to go on a holiday once the vaccine is rolled out.

"Generally within the trade we expect about September time is when the business will start opening up again and people will have the confidence to book their holidays.

"We all have seen some bookings coming through, not in huge numbers, but some coming through for skiing and Lapland around December."
