Dublin city is set to be thrown into chaos this morning as truckers are expected to block the main roads into the capital in protest at rising fuel costs which they say is severely affecting them.
The group, which named itself The People of Ireland Against Fuel Prices, say they will not end their protest without a resolution on the issue, and are prepared to protest for at least one week.
The former President of the Irish Road Road Haulage Association and Independent TD Verona Murphy says she understands the frustration of the protesters.
"I think you know, there's a huge disconnect between how the cost of living is affecting people and the actions government are prepared to take. And I think that's where people are now.
"They believe they've been left with no option and the frustration is such that this is where they find themselves and they believe that the demonstration is the only way to alert government to how they feel."
