Two men remain in Garda custody this morning following their arrest last night in connection with attempting to collect a dead man's pension at a Post Office in Carlow.
66 year old Peadar Doyle was brought to the post office on Staplestown Road last Friday morning by two men in an effort to collect his pension.
A member of staff became suspicious and the two fled the scene.
The men had reportedly attempted to collect the Mr. Doyle's pension earlier that morning but were told by staff that the pensioner had to be present at the counter himself.
The two returned a short while later appearing to prop up Mr. Doyle.
The two men, who are in their 30's, are being questioned at Carlow Garda Station.
