European soccer's governing body, UEFA, is to investigate the chanting in the Irish team dressing room after the World Cup play off win over Scotland on Tuesday.
Noting the investigation, the FAI has reiterated apologies for any offence caused and will continue to review the situation to ensure all players and staff are aware of their responsibilities.
There has been widespread criticism of the pro-IRA chants that were filmed in the post-match celebrations.
Earlier, Taoiseach Michael Martin says a comprehensive apology had been given.
