An undersea link to allow the exchange of electricity between Ireland and France is now a step closer.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Energy Minister Eamon Ryan have attended the signing of the construction and financing arrangements for the project connecting Cork and Brittany.
The powerful undersea cable will have the capacity to to exchange power capable of powering 450,000 homes.
It's set to cost €1.6 billion and work is set to begin next year.
