Cabinet Ministers have considered advice from the Attorney General on the future of Seamus Woulfe.
The AG outlined the constitutional issues and responsibilities the government has.
Ministers have said they will continue to reflect on the issues.
They have also said inappropriate public comment should be avoided as the sensitivity of the issue is assessed.
