People in the city are being warned to brace themselves for potentially the strongest storm in decades tonight with Storm Ellen due to make landfall at around 9pm
Met Éireann says destructive winds will track across the country overnight and tomorrow morning bringing gusts of over 160 kilometres per hour in coastal regions.
City Hall are warning of the risk of flooding in low lying areas of the City, the County Council and Coast guard are warning people to stay away from the coast, while the RSA say extreme caution is needed on the roads tonight and tomorrow.
The weather warning comes into operation at 9pm and is in effect until midnight tonight
