The Tanaiste doesn't believe the rationing of energy supplies will happen here.
It follows remarks from the EU Commissioner Mairead McGuineess, who warned rationing 'could be a reality' this winter.
EU members could be left without fuel supplies as lawmakers look to reduce their dependence on Russian oil.
However Tanaiste Leo Varadkar doesn't think it will happen here, saying Ireland does have energy reserves.
"That would only arise I think where attempts are made at price controls.
"They never work. When you bring in price caps you have to increase them all the time which defeats the whole purpose, or you end up rationing energy because there's a limit on supply because the people who bring the fuel into the country just can't bring it in at the price you've capped it at."
