Don't attempt to recycle any wrapping paper with glitter in it.
That's the advice from Irish environmental charity VOICE.
In the lead up to Christmas, it was predicted that Ireland would generate around 95 thousand tonnes of waste.
Co-ordinator Mindy O'Brien says we should avoid recycling any wrapping paper that may contain plastic:
"Try to avoid the wrapping paper with glitter - that cannot be recycled. Or the the wrapping paper that you can scrunch up and it opens up - so it doesn't hold into a ball - that has plastic in it so that has to go into your rubbish bin as well. So any sort of paper that you scrunch up in a ball and stays in a ball can go into recycling bin."
