With temperatures set to exceed 30 degrees from Sunday, the public are being warned to avoid taking risks if they intend to go swimming.
Two people have lost their lives this week, after getting into difficulty while swimming in Dublin and Clare.
The acting CEO of Water Safety Ireland Roger Sweeney said the public should avoid using inflatable toys in the water:
"Inflatable toys are a no-no on open water because even the slightest, gentlest breeze takes children away from shore. So don't bring them to open water because they're likely to get somebody into difficulty and drownings are silent. Don't take it that your child is safe just because they're in the water with lots of other people."
