The Mayor of Waterford says he's very keen to show Britain's Prince Charles and Camilla the city's historical roots.
Joe Kelly will welcome the royals to the Deise today, to kick off their state visit to both Waterford and Tipperary.
It comes after the royal couple literally stopped traffic for a time in Cork yesterday afternoon as they jetted into Cork Airport
Rolling traffic restrictions will be in place for the coming days to accommodate the royal visit and departure from the country out of Cork Airport tomorrow
While in Waterford the couple will meet with health staff who worked through the pandemic, and Charles is set to meet local farmers to discuss climate change.
Mayor Joe Kelly says they'll be taken for a walk around historically significant parts of Waterford City.
"In terms of some of the ancient part of the city like the Viking Triangle, so there are some interesting things that the Prince and his wife will be interested in looking at.
"We'll also be in City Hall in what was called the Assembly Room, we now call it the Large Room, where the formal reception will take place, where there will be a number of invited guests and councillors present."
