Women who are concerned they may be a victim of a mass online revenge porn scam are being encouraged to contact Gardai.
Officers are investigating claims up to 200 women in the south east are being blackmailed by an faceless Snapchat account.
Around 50 women have been identified on a list of indecent images with some of the girls underage when the photos were taken.
Journalist with the Wexford People, Padraig Byrne, says whoever is behind the account isn't looking for money.
"There doesn't seem to have been any attempt from this account holder to extort money from these women or anything like that.
"I have encountered a couple of people who have hinted that women involved were told that if they wanted their photos taken down from this account they would have to provide photos of friends, which is quite sinister in itself."
