Young people who think they're in an unhealthy relationship are being encouraged to ask for support.
New research by Women's Aid found one in six aged between 18 and 25 has been subjected to coercive control by their current partner or an ex.
The charity has launched a new website "TooIntoYou.ie" to help people identify red flags, and spot the signs of coercive control.
Project Lead, Mary Hayes, says realising you're experiencing emotional abuse can be difficult to come to terms with:
"We always say you know if it feels wrong, it probably is. It's worth talking about and again you know it can be distressing, looking at the red flags learning about them and maybe recognizing something in your own relationship but it is so important to reach out, because the longer you're in an abusive relationship, the harder it is to get out."
