The party's introducing a new bill that would give them equal rights to earn 10 euro 50 an hour.
It's currently only an option for those aged 20 and above, with sub-minimum rates applying for younger ages.
People Before Profit's workers rights spokesperson, Paul Murphy, says the arguments for paying them less don't stack up:
"Sometimes this is presented that 'ah sure these are young people who are in school or college and this is kind of pocket money.1 But for plenty of people, you know, these are 18-19 year olds, they are out in the world, not living at home, attempting to pay rent and being faced with less than €10.50 an hour and all the discrimination that goes with it. So for us, it's very basic, that this discrimination is done away with."
