A new Garda car has been launched with the aim of engaging with "boy racers".
The souped-up Volkswagen Golf R was seized from a criminal gang by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the courts have granted permission for it to be used by Gardaí.
The car will now form part of Operation Nexus, which aims to improve engagement with motoring enthusiasts, and go on display at car and agricultural shows across the country.
Superintendent Liam Geraghty talks through the features on the car:
"And we have done obviously a slightly different marking design on it, still very, very obviously a Garda car, and it is a fully operational patrol car. But our aim with the motoring community is we want to do modifications on this car too. So we want to show you what you can modify, how you can modify your car, what are the safe limits and open up a conversation about enjoying your car safely and responsibly".
