Many people still view tanned skin as a sign of beauty and not skin damage according to new research.
The study of 1,000 people by researchers at the South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital and UCC and also found many people believe it's worth getting 'slightly sunburned' to get a tan.
While almost half the population have used sunbeds.
One of the authors of the study says it shows a public health campaign is needed to change the public perception of the dangers of tanning.
