Cork-based MedTech start-up NeuroBell will create 12 new jobs by next year - having secured 2.1 million euro in funding.
The University College Cork spin-out plans to launch an AI-powered medical device, which can detect seizures in babies in Neonatal intensive care units - in real-time.
The company estimates that over two million babies globally suffer brain injuries at birth, and says accurate detection can reduce the risk of long-term brain injuries and life-altering conditions like epilepsy and cerebral palsy.
Unlike existing EEG monitoring, NeuroBell's pocket-sized wireless brain monitor can be used without specialised training.
