A video of George Floyd gasping for breath has opened the first day of a trial against the former police officer accused of his murder.
A video of Derek Chauvin kneeling on the 46-year-old's neck before he died led to huge protests and demonstrations across the world.
Derek Chauvin has pleaded not guilty to killing George Floyd.
His defence lawyer Eric Nelson told the court he was just doing his job.
"You will learn that Derek Chauvin did exactly what he had been trained to do over the course of his 19 year career.
"The use of force is not attractive. But it is a necessary component of police work."
