The government's climate sub-committee will meet this afternoon, where cows and carbon will be discussed in detail.
It comes as a decision on carbon emissions cuts to the agriculture sector, is to be made this week.
There are still question marks over whether it'll be in the order of 22%, or 30%.
However Professor in Climate Policy and Politics, Sadhbh O'Neill, says anything less than 30% will impact other sectors like transport:
"Farmers are saying that it's very onerous for them. It's actually a generous target in comparison to other sectors, and that begs the question about what's ultimately feasible, is it possible for transport to deliver emission reductions of over 55 to 60%? I'm not sure that that's feasible."
