Transition year and 5th year students will receive their Junior Cert results on Wednesday the 23rd of November, five months since they sat their exams.
The State Examinations Commission has cited a shortage of examiners and the second sitting of the Leaving Cert as some of the reasons for the delay.
A small number of subjects, where examiner availability was a particular issue, are still being marked.
Cork TD Mick Barry of the Socialist Party told RedFM News that the delay in issuing the results is unacceptable:
"The constant delays and the release of these results shows a lack of respect for the young people who studied for the exams and went through the stress of sitting them. The state examinations commission will be announcing the November date for the release of results today. This announcement should be quickly followed by an apology from the government to the young people concerned."
