The Metropole Hotel has been honoured at the prestigious Historic Hotels of Europe Awards. The awards honour the most unique, important and cultural properties across Europe and recognise their excellence in hospitality.
This is the 9th year of the programme which culminated in an awards ceremony at Sierakow Manor in Poland. The Cork city hotel, which is located in the heart of the Victorian Quarter, received the bronze prize in the Historic City Hotel Award 2023.
As part of the judging process, tourists, culture seekers and history lovers vote for their favourite nominated properties across 10 different categories.
The Metropole Hotel, which has been welcoming guests for 126 years, received the award in acknowledgement of the hotel’s dedication to hospitality and excellence.
General Manager of The Metropole Hotel, Roger Russell, said; “This award means so much to everyone here at The Metropole Hotel. It’s such a boost to the entire team to know that their hard work and dedication has been recognised by tourists and guests from all over Europe who voted for us in the Historic Hotels of Europe Awards. It is an honour to see the name of the hotel listed alongside the Grand Hotel et de Milan in Italy and Hotel Stefanie in Austria. It’s a great way to end 2023 which has been a very successful year for the hotel.”
The Metropole Hotel Cork evolved from a sweet shop and ‘dry’ hotel to the recently renovated hospitality hub it’s known as today.
