The National Transport Authority has met with community representatives from Douglas to discuss a proposed bridge over Ballybrack Woods.
It is part of proposals to deliver 12 new Strategic Transport Corridors to the city as part of the BusConnects Cork project.
The bridge would provide a footpath, cycle track, bus lane and general traffic lanes in each direction over the woods - which are also known ‘the Mangala’.
The project was opened for public consultation last month and will remain open until the 3rd October.
The Echo is reporting today that at least 200 submissions have already been received, with a large proportion of them relating to the bridge over the Mangala.
Locals say the green space is a public amenity, as well as a wildlife and nature reserve.
