People are being encouraged to check in with elderly neighbours or those living alone this Halloween.
It comes amid claims some are blocking their letterboxes in Limerick, due to the fear of fireworks being thrown into their homes.
Local Fianna Fail TD Willie O'Dea says it was something he had never heard of until last year, where he says it was lucky nobody was killed.
He adds people are living in fear:
"It shows the increasing level of disrespect and disregard for vulnerable people. It's a new phenomenon and it's a very, very, very dangerous one indeed. We're fortunate in view what happened last year, we're fortunate deaths didn't result from it."
