Revenue could take over the collection of child maintenance payments.
It's one of 26 suggestions made in a review by the Department of Justice.
Other suggestions are that payments are taken directly from a parents pay packet, and penalties for not financially supporting your children be increased.
Stephen Moffatt from Barnardo's is welcoming the review and says we now need real change:
"Are they receiving those payments? Are those payments being made quickly? Do they have to be chased up? Do we see a reduction in the amount of non-payments? That's really what we want to be able to see and that's what's going to determine the success and going to have a real impact on children already experiencing disadvantage".
