February 4th 2024 is Word Cancer Day and this year your Selfie is needed more than ever as 42,000 people in Ireland are diagnosed with cancer annually.
For the very first time three Irish cancer charities, Breast Cancer Ireland, Breakthrough Cancer Research and the Marie Keating Foundation have come together for Face Up To Cancer to raise funds to help save the lives of the 1 in 2 people in Ireland who will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime.
How To Get Involved
- From Monday 29th January simply take a selfie (or pick a photo of a loved one) and upload it to the campaign website faceuptocancer.ie
- Every single image uploaded will form part of a series of incredible photo mosaics of real people who have experienced a cancer diagnosis, or are working to find new treatments for the disease. (You will be shown exactly where your selfie will feature as part of the larger mosaic.)
- Donate €10 (or your preferred amount) to Face Up To Cancer using your preferred payment method.
- Once a donation is made, your selfie image will be returned to you with a special Face Up To Cancer branded ‘frame’ for sharing across your own social channels using the hashtags #FaceUpToCancer and/or #DonateASelfieSaveLives, encouraging others to do the same.

- Investment in research delivering better ways to detect and treat lung, pancreatic, ovarian, oesophageal (food pipe) and other hard to treat cancers.
- On the ground Cancer Awareness and Support services for those living with or beyond cancer and their families
