The Ukrainian community in Cork say they are heartbroken that their country has been invaded and are calling for the end to hostilities.
Dozens of Ukrainians, their families and supporters from Ireland, Poland, Italy and further afield gathered in the city centre yesterday to show solidarity with the people in Ukraine.
The Russian military made advances into the capital city of Kyiv last night.
Explosions have been heard in the capital Kyiv, which's one of four cities now under attack.
Vadym and his wife Galyna are Ukrainian and living in Cork.
They told RedFM News that their family in Ukraine are looking for a safe place to go:
"Young kids, there is mothers who have actually maybe don't have their husbands beside them etc. though - they're all kind of panicking. At least loads of people just fleeting big cities and maybe going to the rural places because big cities have been attacked.
"My family is. They all in Ukraine and some of them, my niece, is in the capital Kyiv. She tried to leave for the last two days because they have been born bombarding that. They had to leave during the night."
