Works on the roof at the English Market in the city could begin in the coming months.
It’s believed that the roof at the Market, which was built in 1788, needs considerable work.
The Echo report that a request from Labour Party Councillor John Maher has been submitted to Cork City Council, urging the council to seek central government funds for the project.
The issue has been referred to a finance committee for discussion in the next two weeks.
